Jetstar, the low-cost subsidiary of Australian airline Qantas, flies 1900 weekly flights to 15 countries across Asia and the Asia Pacific region. You can still collect frequent flier miles towards Qantas airlines while enjoying Jetstar’s excellent value fares both within Australia and the Asia/Pacific region.

Profile

While a still a young airline, Jetstar has already achieved much recognition for their quality service including its 2009 designation by SkyTrax as ‘Best Low Cost Airline – Australia and New Zealand.’ SkyTrax also awarded them ‘Best Low Cost Airline – Worldwide 2007’ and ‘ Best Cabin Crew – Australia and New Zealand 2007’.

Jetstar is paired with sister companies Jetstar Asia, Valueair in Singapore and Jetstar Pacific in Vietnam which increases your potential to either accrue or spend Qantas Frequent Flier miles across the network of airlines. It has a fleet of 48 aircraft with a further 55 on order – which indicates the speed with which the company is growing.

Destinations

Jetstar’s hub is in Melbourne, so it is a particularly promising option for travellers from that area. Jetstar flies to all the major Australian cities plus Auckland, Christchurch, Queenstown, and Wellington in New Zealand and Nadi in Fiji. Their sister companies expand the scope throughout Asia and Asian Pacific.

About the Jetstar Frequent Flyer Program

As a subsidiary of Qantas, customers flying Jetstar can accrue Qantas Frequent Flyer points on Jetflex and StarClass fares (which eliminates the cheapest of the Jetstar fares from eligibility) which bring with them the Qantas Frequent Flier membership perks. These include: Qantas Club Business counters, priority waitlisting and airport standby, extra luggage allowance, advance seat selection, and priority telephone reservation service. The higher levels of Qantas membership bring extra privileges like additional baggage allowance and priority baggage handling.

Qantas Frequent Flyer members also receive exclusive special offers from company partners which include deals from travel companies, hotels, restaurants and more.

You can gain more points by using a Jetstar Frequent Flyer credit card. In addition, points can be earned by shopping with a variety of participating vendors which include hotels, grocery and liquor stores, car manufacturers, travel service providers, restaurants, and finance, business and real estate service providers. So whether you fly budget or not, you can still build up reward miles.

Membership is open to individuals only (no groups) and there is a joining fee for the Qantas Frequent Flyer program. Depending on membership status, annual fees may apply.
