In Depth Review

It’s up, up and away with the ANZ Frequent Flyer Visa! It’s not as difficult to get as the Gold or Platinum versions, so the goodies on offer aren’t quite as good, but it also costs a fraction of the other cards (only $95 p.a. p.a. including rewards program).

Yay!

With the AMEX version, you get one Qantas Frequent Flyer point for every dollar you spend while with the Visa version you receive one Qantas Frequent Flyer point for every two dollars you spend. However, if you take advantage of shopping at ANZ Bonus Partners, you can boost that to two bonus points for every dollar spent and get to your travel goal twice as fast! The application process is quick and easy and the annual fee quite reasonable. 19.89% p.a. interest on purchases and 20.99% p.a. on cash advances are fairly standard for the industry. And ANZ will guarantee all your online purchases.

Boo!

They only offer up to 44 days interest free credit on purchases, while some of their competitors give you up to 55 days interest free. Also the Visa card, offering only one point per $2 spent is a bit tight.

In the end …

If you don’t qualify for a Gold or Platinum card, or don’t want to pay the higher annual fees, this is a good basic card to get you building up points towards future flights or other travel costs. Since you have to buy stuff anyway, you might as well receive some reward for it.
