In Depth Review

If you use your plastic card a lot, and provided you’re a reasonably high earner (over $75,000), this card does offer a lot of perks which are in keeping with its Platinum status. Read on to learn more.

Yay!

The card is available as either a Visa card or American Express card. The American Express card is more generous with points, giving you 1.5 points for every $1 spent as opposed to Visa’s 1 point per $1. With either card get 1 Qantas Frequent Flyer point per dollar spend with Qantas, and between 2 and 6 points per $1 spent at many bonus partner businesses in Australia. With the option of adding additional cards to the account, you can see how the points could start to pile up quickly. 19.89% p.a. interest on purchases is pretty standard, but doubling the manufacturer’s warranty on goods purchased with the card gives you great peace of mind.

Boo!

Peace of mind comes at a price! The card comes with a $295 p.a. annual fee. If you spend a lot, and build up lots of points, this is definitely worth it, but you need to consider your usage.

In the end …

For a high flier this could be a great card. Or even for a family who use it for some big ticket items it could mean a good pot of reward miles to enjoy spending at the end of the year.
