In Depth Review

The Q Rewards Program earns you great points for every $1 spent on the Bank of Queensland Platinum Visa credit card! When redeeming points, you can enjoy the flexibility of choosing your airline and a host of bonus security and convenience features.

Yay!

The $99 p.a. annual fee is definitely on the higher end but isn’t too outrageous when you consider the rewards and benefits you get with the card. The Q Rewards program is one of the best out there. The points you earn per dollar are great and never expire meaning you don’t have to rush a purchase you don’t really want or keep track of points you could be losing. The flexibility of being able to redeem accrued points with multiple airlines, or alternatively to be able to spend rewards on shopping vouchers at stores you’re actually likely to use is also a draw.

As well as benefiting from a fantastic rewards program, you can enjoy international travel insurance, higher levels of purchase cover insurance, extended warranty on purchases and priority 24-hour customer service on a dedicated Platinum Visa card enquiries line. You’ll also receive the fairly standard 55 day interest free period with this card.

Boo

Remember to make sure that the annual fee is worth your while for what you will get out of the card (as in do you spend enough to earn enough points that will save you more money than you’re paying for the annual fee?). The purchase and cash advance rates on this card aren’t great but if you make your monthly repayments on time this won’t be an issue and will leave you simply able to enjoy the benefits of the card. There is also a $1000 daily cash advance limit through ATMs.

In the end…

In a nutshell, the Bank of Queensland Platinum Visa Card is a first-rate card with plenty of benefits. The mid to higher income earner can earn some excellent points whilst enjoying the security and added convenience features the card has to offer. Definitely worth your consideration.
