In Depth Review

With a Platinum Card comes prestige, and the Macquarie card delivers. Whether it’s earning generous points on your spend, or the special VIP services afforded you, this is a credit card which delivers on the promise.

Yay!

Earn a generous $1 = 1.25 Macquarie Bank Rewards points (and 3.25 when using MyChoice Travel). You will also benefit from up to 55 days interest free period and an in-built anti-fraud chip to help keep you safe when shopping online or in the shops. When it comes to redeeming your points for travel, you will appreciate that there are no blackout periods or seat restrictions with your Platinum Card and you can even use your points to pay the full whack – including taxes and fees.

Boo!

You’ve got to earn a minimum of $50,000 to qualify. And be over 18. But the former probably signifies the latter (we hope!). You will also need a good credit rating and be willing to shell out $200 p.a. annually for the privilege of flashing your Platinum.

In the end…

So maybe $200 p.a. is a lot for an annual fee, and the interest rates aren’t cheap, but the travel benefits alone far outweigh this. For anyone with a VIP lifestyle, this is a great card choice.
